By attending the Welcome Fair you agree to adhere to Goldsmiths Students' policies. We ask all stallholders to look at these prior to the event to ensure your activity or materials don't contravene these, particularly paying attention to our Safe Space Policy and Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions policy against Israeli Apartheid.

General guidelines

  • Societies and sports clubs exhibiting at the Welcome Fair will be held liable to any costs or claims incurred by any persons or property as a result of their actions

  • Societies and sports clubs exhibiting at the Welcome Fair must not receive any payment in cash, credit card or cheque unless agreed with the Students' Union in advance

  • Passageways and fire exits in the Great Hall must be left unobstructed

  • All electrical equipment used must be labelled with an up-to-date PAT testing certificate and exhibitors must not overload sockets

  • No alcohol to be served or drunk in the marquee

  • Strictly no smoking inside the marquee

  • Any data collected from students must be handled in a secure manner. Students must explicitly be asked for their consent to be contacted and must be provided with opportunities to opt out of communications

  • Serving of food or drink must be agreed with the Students’ Union prior to exhibiting and provide evidence of relevant licensing, food hygiene certificates or permits. You may not serve homemade food or hot drinks. Allergy warnings must be made clear

  • No flashing lights to be used throughout the duration of Welcome Fair

  • Exhibitors must not store goods outside of their allocated space

  • The Students’ Union encourages the use of sustainable packaging and materials

  • Whenever speaking to people, especially if you believe a student may be hard of hearing or deaf, try to face them and ensure they have a clear line of sight to your face

Quiet hour guidelines

The quiet hour is on both days of the Welcome Fair, from 10am - 11am. It is put in place in order to meet accessibility needs. We ask that all stallholders respect the following guidelines during this hour in order to create a welcoming space for all attendees on both days of the Welcome Fair.

  • No sound to be played at stalls

  • No approaching students - during this time, please wait for students to approach you and show interest first

  • Avoid shouting or loud conversations with colleagues

  • All phones should be off or on silent

Prohibited items

  • Alcohol

  • Highly flammable or potentially explosive substances

  • Any weapons or anything that imitates them

  • Any material that could be deemed offensive or as inciting hatred

  • Large amplified sound systems and speakers

We reserve the right to stop or suspend stallholders at any time, and the right to confiscate any prohibited items.
