During a two week period in May, each society/community/club must run an election for the roles that make up their society.
Some may be appointed, but the President, Secretary (Captain for sports clubs), Treasurer, Liberation Reps, Social Secretary and Events Manager must be voted for by members.
Existing societies/clubs can have additional roles added to the election if you have more than these core positions.
Please email amina@goldsmithssu.org ASAP if you would like to do this.
We also encourage a meeting open to all members, to discuss the strong points, things which can be improved, and review finances for the year.
Note: only registered members of your society/club/community may vote in the election.
The Online Election
Similar to the Students’ Union elections in February/March, the entire process is digital and will be managed through the Students’ Union website (goldsmithssu.org).
Overview of the process
-
Societies will tell us which roles they would like to make available to vote for. At a minimum, they must include; President, Secretary (Captain for sports clubs), Treasurer, Liberation Reps, Social Secretary and Events Manager.
-
Candidates will nominate themselves for roles on the website. They may write a short manifesto.
-
During society election week, registered members may vote online for the committee roles.
-
Societies/clubs will be given the results, and will be required to fill out a society application form next year.
