Pride Month: Must Watch List

If you didn’t know, June marks the beginning of Pride Month, the celebration of LGBTQ+ rights. Six years since gay marriage was legalised in the UK and we’re starting to see a rise of LGBTQ+ representation in pop culture. Amaze! ??

If for any reason you can’t get to a pride march or event, why not celebrate by watching some Pride related shows from the comfort of your own home.

Add these suggestions to your watch-list below NOW:

Sex Education (Netflix)

If you haven’t already (no judgement ??) then load up Sex Education on Netflix. The British comedy-drama follows the life of a teenage boy, Otis who lives with the discomfort of his mum’s job as a sex therapist. Awks. When the whole school finds out, Otis uses his knowledge to mentor his peers.

The show delves into the ever-awkward topics of puberty and sexual awakening and is said to have attracted 40 million Netflix subscribers, with viewers praising the inclusion of LGBTQ+ storylines. We love it and we are sure you will too.

Pose (BBC iplayer)

If you have watched Paris is Burning, then you owe it to yourself to watch Pose. and if you have ever watched a single episode of RuPaul’s Drag Race, you owe it to yourself to watch Pose!

Pose is a groundbreaking TV series, based on the Ballroom scene in New York, in the 1980s. The show is said to have the largest cast of trans actors in TV history! The storyline contrasts between the glitz and glamour of ball culture and the struggles of gay and transgender people of colour being accepted by society at the time.

The Queer coming of age story is definitely one to add to your watch list!

Queer Eye

Originally known as Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, Queer Eye is an American reality show with five gay hosts known as the ‘Fab Five’ who set out to transform the wardrobes, grooming, diet and homes of people across Atlanta.

We promise the new revamp will make you chuckle and reach for the tissues as the hilarious ‘Fab Five’ take on the issues that the women and men they met face such as, sexuality, race and loneliness.
