June Referendum Results Announced

On June 4, 2024, Goldsmiths’ Students Union conducted a referendum to determine the student body’s confidence in Professor Warden Frances Corner and Goldsmiths’ Senior Management Team.

 

 

On June 4, 2024, Goldsmiths’ Students Union conducted a referendum to determine the student body’s confidence in Professor Warden Frances Corner and Goldsmiths’ Senior Management Team. The Referendum was called after the Union received a secure petition to call a referendum signed by 92 Students, in accordance with our governing documents.

Results

The voting turnout was as follows:

  • Total Votes Cast: 828

  • Voter Turnout Percentage: 9.62%

Voting Breakdown:

  • Yes: 819 votes (98.91%)

  • No: 8 votes (0.96%)

  • Abstain: 1 vote (0.12%)

What do these results mean?

The results of the referendum indicate strong support for the motion, with 98.91% of voters expressing no confidence in the Warden and Senior Management Team, thereby endorsing the vote of no confidence.

Votes could only be casted by current students through our website which required students to login in order to vote. Votes were validated by our external Returning Officer.

What happens now?

Based on the referendum results, the Vote of No Confidence in the Warden and SMT has now passed.
