We know that this widespread change will have an impact on students and student experience, as has previous restructures. It is extremely important that the College does not place financial interests over those of our students and community. Students and student experience must be a priority. It should not be prescribed or defined by the institution. We want to hear from you and champion the reality of the experiences of Goldsmiths students.
The Official TP Survey
This survey invites you to share your thoughts on your student experience, expectations and questions or concerns for the College around the Transformation Programme. You will also have the space to share any specific issues you are experiencing, and any actions you want the SU to push the College for. Voice your thoughts and concerns here: https://forms.gle/LzSWhS6TRKTSwRah9
Build on our demands
The SU is demanding the following measures be implemented immediately for student support. We want to build on these initial demands to capture the needs of liberation groups and communities in our student body. Share your thoughts and experiences with us via the TP survey above, or email sabbs@goldsmithssu.org to share your thoughts, or arrange a chat with your liberation group to hold a conversation. Our initial main demands are:
- Automatic extensions for students
- Enhanced support framework for marginalised groups, including weekly (or at least bi-weekly) special drop in stations staffed by representatives from Wellbeing, Library Subject Librarians, Careers, Immigration and Registry services
- Revisions to assessment structures to allow greater student agency, such as including possibility of creative submissions beyond essays, with increased transparency around marking criteria
- Automatic transcript cover letter for all students detailing the restructure, the impact it has had on the student's programme, defending the merit and achievements of the student for future applications and careers
- Tuition and fee adjustments for students who may experience delays in their academic progression due to structural changes
- Create emergency funds to assist students who face unforeseen financial challenges due to structural changes, such as unexpected relocation expenses or technology needs for remote learning, available to international students as well.
- Allow students and alumni to complain up to 1.5 years after graduation

Look out for open student-staff forums and get involved
We will be organising open student-staff forums in collaboration with campus trade unions to gather feedback and build action. Stay tuned for further details!
As the situation develops, we aim to provide updates as we receive them. We will actively advocate for the College to not only establish transparent and accessible communications but also a clear process for student complaints and to ensure rights are upheld.
Goldsmiths SU stands in solidarity with Goldsmiths UCU, Unison and the Goldsmiths community against this drastic and devastating restructure. We call on the College to halt the redundancies, engage meaningfully with Goldsmiths students and staff, and implement our collective demands immediately.
