Trans Rights Here and Now!

Hello!

Maybe you've read the news, maybe you haven't! But as a trans person, on the binary or not, you most likely see what is going on!

How people treat us, humans in general, is important to us as social beings. We want to be treated with respect and dignity and friendliness. And more closely to my heart and other trans people (and queer people in general), we want our identity to be respected and for the world to be safe to walk around and exist as our authentic selves.

I came out as a Trans Girl one month ago, before that I identified as Non-binary Transfeminine for one year... and way before that I first came out as bisexual at the age of 17. I grew up in an environment very hostile to Queer people, where the threat of violence and death was constant, that of homelessness was ever present and the possibilities to speak out were nonexistent. I have read about and seen others go through the same issues as I have and I cried and got angry with every story, because, even though I did not know some of them personally, at the end of the day, they are still my brothers, my sisters and my siblings.

Therefore, I now strive forward one step at a time to help my family in need and end, if possible, or lessen the injustices caused by society and their impact upon those like me. So that they may not have to go through what I went through. As such, I am studying my Master's in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy to become the helping hand that I did not have.

And, furthermore, using my experiences as a source and the experiences of other Trans and Non-Binary people, as a Trans and Non-binary Students' Officer, I will strive to make the University a safe space for you in all aspects that may come.

THUS!

I will strive to create an intertwined network of students so that socially NO Trans or Non-Binary person shall be isolated and harassment will be minimized through power in numbers!

I will make sure that at the Student Union events that may come, all Trans and Non-Binary people will be able to be themselves and feel as comfortable as possible in the environment!

If you are being misgendered, I will fight for you within my capabilities as an Officer within this University so that it shall stop and your identity will be respected!

For those that still have to sit with their Deadname on their Student ID or on any piece of paper where your Deadname is not necessary for legal identification, I will do EVERYTHING in my power to make sure that it is removed and replaced with a name of your choosing! YOUR NAME!

I will make sure that Social Events for Trans and Non-Binary people are held regularly and that they will involve not only socialising but also other activities such as board games!

If possible, I will also make sure that there will be Trans and Non-Binary Get Outs where people, as a group, will be going to different establishments, be it pubs or parks or dining places, and have the social event there!

If you have any issue, I will make sure to respond in as swiftly a time as possible and make sure that everything is and will be alright!

Finally

I thank you for your vote and regardless of whether I win or not, I hope you have an excellent year and that you are able to be your authentic self!
