JUNAD MIAH
Hello everyone, I'm Junad. I am a 2nd year student on the BA Education degree and a student representative on my course. I have worked within the education sector throughout my life, working as a TA in secondary, primary and SEN schools, I have also collaborated with specialists such as Speech and Language Therapists to make learning more accesbile and I hope to go on to do my MA in Education. I am applying for this role because I believe it is important to carry on the amazing work that is currently being carried out and it is important to focus on the key issues we are currently facing at Goldsmith's which is impacting our learning as students. My passion lies within the subject of education, If voted I will aim to bring in more progressive ideas, fun ideas and continue to lobby for problems (i.e. compensation from strikes). I will work hard if elected your next Education Officer!
EDUCATION OFFICER MANIFESTO
- Encourage study groups and provide a system where students are able to work in
groups together in order to create a study plan, manage group meetings and roles.
- Facilitate a ‘Learning2Learn’ workshop for all students, which will introduce them to
university life, reading, referencing, essay writing etc.
- Ensure that the Goldsmiths ‘central hub’ administrative team are better equipped
and organised for all incoming and current students, taking off additional stress upon
lecturers and tutors which has also caused delays.

regularly updated and have resources available to students such as readings,
assessment material, contact details, extenuating circumstances and deadlines etc.
- To establish an easier system for tutorials to be booked and take place between
students and tutors.
- Introducing a peer assessment system as an additional form of marking. Year two
students will essentially provide their peers with feedback, reading suggestions and
academic advice.
- Encourage students in their penultimate and final years to carry out the Gold Award
programme, which can help them with their future plans for either further study,
graduate schemes and professional settings.
- Continue the active bystander workshops via the culture of the CARE campaign.
- Continue to allow students to have access to learning spaces and sessions – where
possible - to be available during periods of disruption.
- To bring more awareness of the Goldsmiths careers service for students and to
ensure more appointments are accessible online.
- To start a college meme page for students to contribute towards daily student
problems. The page will of course be monitored and managed and will enable stress
relief and make students feel that they are not alone.
